Mission Statement
M.A.X. Fights' was established to overcome the misconceptions of MMA as a brutal sport, consisting of blood-thirsty contestants and expose it for the respectful science and art that it truly is. In doing so, we hope to further popularize the sport in addition to replacing the first impressions made on some by poorly-presented MMA events of the past. We will cut no corners in the planning and execution of our events all the way down from the quality of the fighters, the venue used, the extra things that make for a great presentation such as ring lights and great sound, all the way down to every person associated with or contributing to the event in any way. The goal of M.A.X. Fights is to make the fans happy that they came to the event. Profit is put back into the events and allows us to pay the fighters what they deserve, and bigger fight purses are the incentive the fighters need to train that much harder and help justify all the sacrifices they need to make in order to be at their best. I want people to leave the show happy that they came and just waiting for the next event..rather than regretting having wasted money and time coming. I don't believe in "filler fights". The events that M.A.X. Fights puts on will be loaded with talent and have the match-ups people want to see.not just a couple bigger names on the card. There won't be any fights on the card you'll feel ok about missing. |
| Statement to Fighters and Fans |
Fighters should get paid what they're worth....no question, but what determines worth? Is it how good you are? Do you think even 15% of fans in attendance appreciate a near oma plata attempted? No! The typical fan is there to see their buddy, their relative, their neighbor, or, unfortunately, just to see blood. The typical fan likes the wild, un-technical striking and no defense. The fighters who have the most value are the fighters who most appeal to the majority, and that directly translates to the fighters that sell the most tickets, be it directly as we've done recently or indirectly.
However, our goal is to showcase MMA in its best form while not losing money. We need guys that can sell a ton of tickets but may not yet be very refined. They allow the show to happen. Those fighters bringing in the revenue for the show allows us to also allow some better fighters to be on as well. The theory here is that fans come to see "their guy" but are also exposed to the more technical, savvy fighter, and hopefully a fan-following develops there. But, until a fan-following is established, then those better fighters that tend not to fill a lot of seats will have to be paid based on the seats they do sell. Granted, there are some guys that have both the skills and the fan following, but most tend to be more one or the other.
The other misconception is that a main event or title fight should pay more? Why? Who doesn't want to be the main event or have a title shot? yeah, the opposition is likely tougher, but you want a belt, right? There are plenty that do want a belt or marquee status as main event.
Our goal isn't to get rich...it won't happen. it's to put on quality events that can allow local talent to showcase the hard work they've put in. We do video not for us, but for the fighters. the way they go on to the next level show is by sending in highlight clips or getting their fights seen. That's an added expense we take on to help fighters get enough exposure to move on to bigger shows, so they CAN get paid more. You can build your record, get experience and polish your skills, and compile footage all the while.....all while getting paid fairly for your efforts. We try to be very open with the fighters regarding pay and explain the expenses from our side.
We try to pay everyone fairly. Some may feel we don't. If we paid more, we'd be losing money instead of breaking even. if we lost money, we won't put on more shows. Fighters, you have to help in maintaining the stage you're performing on. If the shows go, so too does your opportunity to fight on them, so take this opportunity and start promoting yourself on all levels from start to finish, because with the sport of MMA exploding all over the world there are MANY just like you trying to do same thing and want the same thing so before you even begin you are already competing with someone. Winners keep trying, Champions improvise, adapt, overcome, and Legends go where no one else dares. MAX FIGHTS ~ Where Real Men Come To Fight!

Philosophy
Mixed martial arts is all too often viewed as two combatants trying to hurt each other..and that's it. Superficially, it's easy to understand how it can be viewed this way. Things such as ultra aggressive, disrespectful fighters that personify this unfortunate label contribute heavily to this misconception. Fortunately for the fans, there are many, and I'd say the majority of fighters, who have nothing but respect for their opponents before, during and after their fights. Most don't realize the true chess match that occurs when virtually every aspect of your body can be used as a tool and almost every part of your opponent's body is a potential target. A skilled fighter can see a simple punch or kick coming without a problem and be able to react accordingly without incurring any damage, so most techniques must be prefaced with something to set up the technique to follow. Any gesticulation one makes will likely elicit a reaction from one's opponent. That reaction can be used to "plan" the technique to follow. However, you must remember that there are always two sides to things, so cues your opponent recognizes as patterns can be used to launch counterattacks in anticipation of an opening simply from his opponent, historically, tipping off the delivery of some technique; say a shift of weight to the back leg before throwing a kick. There are a lot of cerebral fighters out there that implement very in depth strategies based on watching fight tapes of their opponents and/or adjust strategies based on patterns and reoccurrences during a fight. The damage caused to the opponents of most fighters is merely a byproduct of proper planning and execution of technique- injury is not the goal. Sanctioned MMA has no standing eight count like boxing does. Fights are stopped as soon as the referee sees a contestant in danger of injury. We don't wait for a ten count before declaring a knock-out, we call the fight immediately after a clean blow that falls an opponent and leaves them vulnerable for damage and tend to the fighter immediately. We don't watch them struggle to their feet to see if they can stand to take some more punishment. Safety is truly the primary concern of the referee.
